Paul Wesley is a rising star in Hollywood, taking his chances with not just acting, but directing, writing, and now producing. He was born in 1982 in New Brunswick, NJ after his parents immigrated to the U.S. from Poland. He spent his younger years living between Marlboro, NJ and Poland, though now he resides in Los Angeles. Many will know him from his role as Stefan Salvatore on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. He started on his path into the entertainment industry as a child, participating in elementary school performances and taking trips into New York City to see plays such as The Lion King.
After graduating high school, he attended a single semester at Rutgers University before he decided to focus on acting. He starred on The Vampire Diaries throughout its’ run from 2009 to 2017. During that time, he wrote and directed several episodes and won numerous awards. Recently, he helped produce the film Before I Disappear with writer, director, and longtime friend Shawn Christensen. He says the film presented a few challenges as a first time producer, but ultimately he found it to be a gratifying experience. The movie has gone on to compete and win awards in several film festivals since its release.
Paul has also done professional theater acting, and he co-starred alongside Katya Campbell and David Harbour in William Francis Hoffman’s play Cal In Camo. In an interview with StageBuddy, he described theater and an “actor’s,” medium. He explains how he used tragedies from his own life, alongside silences in order to bring a depth to his character Flynt. Recently, Paul agreed to help executive-produce the new show Tapped, along with I. Marlene King of Pretty Little Liars, and Bob Levy.
