In politics, it would seem as if the Republican Party had the support of the billionaires throughout the world. But it turns out this wasn’t the case. Meet George Soros, a Hungarian-American, self-made billionaire who over the years has been a strong advocate of capitalism and of the values put down by the Democratic Party over the years. The self-made billionaire actually was an avid supporter of the Democratic ticket during the 2004 election. However, when George W. Bush won another term Soros seemed to back off of political matters in the United States, even though, there were causes in the Democratic party that he continued to fund and support.
When Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton threw her hat in the ring to become the 45th President of the United States, Soros who resides in New York the state where Mrs. Clinton was once a Senator and who is beloved by many, George Soros found that he could no longer stay quiet because of his great admiration for Secretary Clinton as a politician and as a person. So he went about donating 25 million dollars to her campaign to win the biggest off in the United States. In fact, Soros had hoped to attend the Democratic National Convention last September for the first time, but due to some business issue in Europe, he found that he was unable to do so. He would later donate an additional 27 million to her campaign as the Election Day grew nearer. Soros never wavered in his support of Secretary Clinton, and like so many others had high hopes that she would become the first female President of the United States. All signs seemed to point in that direction, including all exit polls and election analysis.

There is an old saying that holds true, “don’t count your chickens before they hatch”. In other words, as many others, Soros woke up on November 9,2016 to discover that it wasn’t Hillary Clinton that was the President-elect, but her main opponent Donald Trump. This was a crushing blow that some have had a hard time swallowing especially with the knowledge that Hillary won the popular vote by millions, yet Donald Trump managed to break out to get the key to winning a Presidential Election in America through the Electoral college.
So, how is George Soros handling this crushing blow? Well, he hasn’t really commented as of yet on how he feels over these results. But odds are this time he won’t go away quietly like he did back in 2004. After all, this is a man who grew up in a middle-class, Jewish family back in Budapest during the Nazi occupation, and in his 85 years on the planet has had to do more than his fair share of fighting back. So, like so many of the rest of us I am sure this time George Soros won’t quit; he is down but he is not out. Perhaps this is a type of spirit that so many of us need to have right now, no matter what life may throw at us; keep on fighting, this is what George Soros has always done and let’s hope that he can encourage many others to do the same.
